The stock exchange towers (1 and 2) are the anchor office buildings in the new Central Business District, in downtown Jakarta. They were built in different years, but kept the same design.
II.
Initial design and actual tower
The neo classic tower, clad in stone and glass had initially intricate details, several setbacks, and long spires, in a NY fashion. Cost cutting measures at the end of the design phase altered the schedule and the design significantly. The ensuing result is an overly simplified extrusion, and a lack of fine details, such as the wavy, anisotropic character as shown in the glass panels.
